Call it what you want…this wimpy Southerner just calls it plain COLD.
However, when the snow hits (even though it may be very very rare)…Snow Cream is a must!
How to Make Snow Cream
What you’ll need to get yourself setup to make some incredibly good snow cream:
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup sugar (pending on how big a sweet tooth you have!)
- 1 T. vanilla
- 5-6 C. of freshly fallen snow
Simply take your snow and add all the other ingredients together…until blended.
The easiest approach for me was to mix the sugar in with the snow first. Then pour the vanilla into your measured out milk and pour over the snow mixture. Mix until blended.
Then scoop up and enjoy – fresh from the sky to your mouth! Delicious!
Or spice it up and add some sprinkles! (We even had a bowl with chocolate syrup drizzled over the top!)
Whichever way you chose…..get excited and ENJOY!
At least from our experience, our kids have always loved snow cream (Brad Bridges did too growing up). It gave us all something fun we could help put together, bring inside, stir up, and then we found ourselves eating it for a week after the snow day. This year, instead of just building another Frosty the Snowman, try making snow cream!
Trust me, you’ll be glad you did. I guarantee it!
