Top 5 Posts from Around the Web – Leading as a Parent, Halloween, Pumpkin Seeds and the Upcoming Election

This week I found myself reading articles about leading as a parent, Halloween (naturally!), and the upcoming election.

Leading as a Parent

1. Leading as a Parent

“7 Rules Parents of Great Leaders Had” from @MikeColaw gave me some new things to think about regarding how I approach interaction with my kids. How am I leading as a parent? I think one of my favorites was the High/Low approach. Evaluating your day this way is a great thing to institute to encourage self-awareness and reflection.

2. Pumpkin Seeds

One of our favorite things about jack-o-lanterns is the yummy pumpkins seeds you can make for a snack! It’s not difficult to make, but I always end up googling a recipe to make sure I do it right! This year I’m going to use “Perfect Roasted Pumpkin Seeds” from @happy_hooligans.

3. Our Children Are Not Our Own

“Parents naturally live as if our children belong to us, but they don’t—they belong to God.” Can you say convicting? This article from Today’s Christian Woman shares about how we have permission to stop worrying and focus on leading as a parent with God in control.

4. Halloween Convictions?

Christians have differing opinions about Halloween and the appropriateness of participating in events. When we are leading as parents, it is important that we consider what is appropriate for our kiddos. @bronleatweets shares “My First American Halloween” on Christianity Today highlighing some different views on the holiday, as well as some of the history behind Halloween. It was an intriguing read with the 31st coming up this week.

5. Our Civic Duty

“3 Reasons You Should Care About Election Day” from Anne Chamberline shares why American Christians should participate and be involved in the upcoming elections.
